Pere Joan (Palma, 1956)
Pere Joan (Palma, Mallorca, 1956) is a cartoonist and author of comics. Some albums from his beginnings are: "Pasajero en Tránsito" (1984), "Mi cabeza bajo el mar" (1990), Prize for the best work of the Saló Internacional del Còmic de Barcelona, with his own scripts, by Emilio Manzano and Juan Bufill, "16 novels with blue men" (1996), "Tingram" (2001) and "Azul y Ceniza" (2004). Among his exhibitions, we should mention "Pere Joan. 1992-2006" (Sa Nostra, Palma) and the collective "Metarrealist Painting" (Barcelona, New York, 2000-2001). His work can be found in collections such as those of the MNAC (Barcelona) or the Museo ABC (Madrid). He is a member of La Real Academia de Bellas Artes San Fernando de Palma de Mallorca. He collaborated in the magazines Cairo, El Pequeño País and Esquitx. He edited and co-directed together with Max the avant-garde comic magazine "Nosotros Somos Los Muertos". He has adapted literary works such as "Viaje a Cotiledonia" (2015), by Cristóbal Serra, and "Nocilla Experience" (2011), by Agustín Fernández Mallo, into graphic novels. He published in France the album "Duel d´escargots", drawn by Sonia Pulido. His style has been changing to a form that could be called a graphic essay, with books such as "El aprendizaje de la lentitud", "la expedición Paraná Ra´anga" (2011), "100 Pictogramas para un siglo (XX) " (2014), "Selective Memory. Postcards drawn from Mallorca to the limit" (2017) and "Neocaos" (2023), a comic-essay on architecture and urbanism. He is currently preparing an exhibition that will bring together two thousand drawings.
Isa Feu (Barcelona, 1956)
In 1974 she edited, together with Pàmies and Roger, De Quomic, the aristocratic tebeo. She has been part of the group of cartoonists of Los tebeos del Rrollo (Picadura Selecta, Propaganda Moderna, El Sidecar, A la Calle...) and El Víbora, since 1980. She has published in Cavall Fort magazine and has collaborated as illustrator in periodicals (Diari de Barcelona, La Vanguardia Mujer, El Periódico, ROCK IN', Marie-Claire, Vitalidad, Barcelona Metropoli...). She has participated in comic book exhibitions such as "Perpetuum Mobile" (1984) and "Makoki 1977-1987" (Sala Metronome and itinerant). She has exhibited his pictorial work and his drawings in exhibitions held in spaces such as La Sala Vinçon, Galeria DBarcelona, Piscolabis (Barcelona) or Can Negre-Centre Jujol (Sant Joan Despí, 1996). She has participated in collective exhibitions such as "Papel de Mujeres", presented at Sala Transformadors (Barcelona) and at Sala Amadís (Madrid), or "Zum-Zum", at Galeria Dubé (Barcelona).
From 1991 to 2007, she worked as a decoration assistant in the audiovisual world, especially in the cinematographic field. In 2019 she participated in the exhibition in tribute to El Víbora, which took place at the MNAC with the title "#ElVíbora. Only for adults". In the years 2020 and 2021 it is part of the Lardín magazine, and publishes in its four issues. In April 2021, she published in the magazine Plasti de Nasti, in tribute to Nasti de Plasti (1976). In 2023 she participated in the collective exhibitions Mujercitas del mundo entero, uníos! Autoras de cómic adulto (1969-1993), organized by the Library and Documentation Center of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (Madrid), and Bodies that speak, organized by the Diputació de Barcelona and curated by Marika Vila.
Calpurnio (Zaragoza, 1959-Valencia, 2022)
Eduardo Pelegrín Martínez de Pisón, known as Calpurnio - or also Calpurnio Pisón -, began publishing his own fanzines in the eighties, in which the character he continued to draw for four decades was the protagonist: Bueno de Cuttlas. From the fanzine "El Japo", he went to the pages of the magazine "Makoki". Cuttlas died for the first time in 1989, but was reborn in 1994, in the newspaper "El País", where he had a notable presence, continued until 2001. And he was a fixed character in the free newspaper "20 minutes" from 2004 to 2015.
Calpurnio's adventurous and minimalist humor deserved the Author Revelation Prize awarded in 1993 by the Saló del Còmic de Barcelona, and was collected in albums such as "El Bueno de Cuttlas contra los Malos", "El hombre del Oeste", "El molecular gunman" or "El signo de los tiempos", among others. "The Big Book of Cuttlas" has recently been published, which collects all the comics of this character. It is also worth highlighting the film versions made by Calpurnio in television series such as "Cuttlas Microfilms" (1995-1996) and in short films such as "Con cien cañones por banda" and "El Bueno de Cuttlas". By the same author are other books with other characters, such as "Mundo Plasma" (2016), as well as the unique video projects signed by ERRORvideo.
Olaf Ladousse (París, 1967)
Olaf Ladousse (Paris 1967) landed in the Iberian Peninsula in the year 92 of the last century. He immediately took advantage of his encounters with talented cartoonists to publish the fanzine "¡Qué Suerte!". Thirty years, 33 issues later, he continues to draw and publish in this international fanzine, without words and always monographic. "What luck!" sometimes offers different collages in each copy, and has even dared to edit a "Transparente" issue. His work has been published in "Le Dernier Cri", "Joc Doc", "Mondo Brutto", " Fantagraphics", "L' Association", "Cretino", "Stripburger", "Nosotros Somos Los Muertos", "Kus!", among other publications and publishers.
Aside from drawing and engraving, Olaf performs with the musical group Los Caballos De Düsseldorf, of which the cartoonist Calpurnio was also a member, in concerts that combine electronics with instruments that are actually objects or toys. He has held concerts in places like Catalonia, Japan, Mexico, Chicago, Paris, Pleumeur-Bodou, etc.
Ana Galvañ (Murcia, 1975)
Ana Galvañ is a comic author and illustrator from Murcia. After her time at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Valencia, she specialized in creativity and art direction. Later, she left advertising to devote himself fully to comics and illustration. She currently lives in Murcia, where she works from his own studio in the publishing field. She has collaborated with press and publishers such as El País, The Guardian, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Socialter and Berliner. In the comics field, her stories have appeared in publications such as Fantagraphics, Nobrow, Kus!, Vertigo DC, Apa-Apa, and Fosfatina. In 2016 she received one of the ten Gràffica awards and in 2020 she was nominated for one of the Ignatz awards. Sbe recently published "Tarde en McBurger's", a pre-teen fantasy story published by Apa Apa comics.
Marc Torices (Barcelona, 1989)
Comics author and animator. As a director, he co-wrote and co-directed, together with Pau Anglada and Genís Rigol, the animated short film Knockstrike, selected in international festivals such as Clermont-Ferrand, Ottawa or the Sundance festival, and awarded in Turin. The experimental short Naive Mischief in Oak Paso, co-directed with Manson, won awards in the Basque Country and Greece.
As an animator and art director, he has collaborated and worked in numerous animation studios or creative companies such as Canada, Device, Bliss, Brut, Glassworks, Bandai or Vice.
He has worked on the storyboards for the films Decorado and Unicorn Wars, by Alberto Vázquez, also doing the art for scene 24 of the latter. He has published his stories in publishing houses, magazines and newspapers in countries such as Spain, France, England, Italy, Mexico, Chile, Poland, the Netherlands, Argentina, the USA and Slovenia. His first graphic novel, Abrir Para Cerrar, was awarded an Accèssit Injuve. His graphic novel Cortázar, based on a biography of Julio Cortázar written by Jesús Marchamalo, was awarded the Splash prize (Best national comic 2017) and the Best comic of the year by the Guild of Booksellers of Navarra, and in 2023 he published La alegre vida del triste perro Cornelius, a work that will be published in 2024 and 2025 in Poland, the Netherlands, France and the USA.
As an illustrator, he has worked with Blackie Books, Nørdica Libros, Ajoblanco, Diari Ara, BCN Mes or Cactus, or creating the identity of festivals and entities such as La Llama Fest, Gutter Fest, Moog, Laut or TV3's La Marató. He is currently working on the pre-production of the short La verdad te rechaza, Cornelius, based on the characters in his book La alegre vida del triste perro Cornelius and produced by Hampa Studio.
Fum (Barcelona, 1989)
He is primarily a cartoonist and comic author. His first book, "Asunción el televisor", published in 2022 by Pepitas de Calabaza, has been celebrated by specialists such as Jordi Costa as one of the most original proposals of the last generation. Asunción is a character who was born in the fanzine "Sangre decaffeinada", founded and directed by Fum.
He has regularly published in the fanzine "¡Qué Suerte!", founded by Olaf, and has also published comic strips in other magazines, such as "Lardín" and "El Batracio Amarillo". Graduated in Illustration at La Llotja (Barcelona ), has exhibited in art galleries such as Esther Montoriol, Víctor Saavedra or Uxval Gochez and in spaces such as La Fàbrica Moritz and the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc. He has also designed costumes for The Original Cha Chá ·worked on the animated film "Rock Bottom" (2024), directed by María Trénor and still unpublished, based on the famous album of the English musician Robert Wyatt.He is currently working simultaneously on two comic albums, with new characters.
Conxita Herrero (El Prat de Llobregat, 1993)
Artist and author of comics. She carries out freelance illustration commissions for national and international media such as El País, Ara, Revista Granta or Guernica Magazine, for publishers such as Blackie Books, Fosfatina, Kus or Fantagraphics and for institutions such as the Diputació de Barcelona, the Provincial Council of Guipúscoa or the Prat de Llobregat City Council. In 2016, the Barcelona publishing house Apa-Apa Cómics published the first book, Gran bola de helad. In 2016 she was selected by the Sala d'Art Jove in Madrid for the CITI project. In 2017 she participated in the cycle "La Ciudad en Viñetas" (CentroCentro Cibeles, Madrid), and in 2018 she participated in the collective exhibition "Global Alt Comics" (New Jersey) together with authors such as Powerpaola or Gabrielle Bell. She has participated as a creator in official drawing and comics events, such as Revolta en el cômic (2018, MACBA), Big Draw (2018, Barcelona City Council) or Telaraña (2022, CentroCentro Cibeles).
