The work of Alicia Gimeno, a young Catalan artist, has an undeniable lightness transmitted by the balance of shapes and curves. The pieces expose a sensitive and delicate beauty, fruit of the observation of nature, with its sinuous and organic strokes. They are representations that are carried away by gestuality, expressionism and the language of the abstract, as well defined by the artist herself.
The search for perfection is at the center of Alicia Gimeno’s artistic research. However, perfection for her is not the absence of defects, but balance and symmetry, as we find it in nature and in our bodies: we are symmetrically imperfect. And beauty is born precisely from the harmony created between imperfections.

Alicia Gimeno’s drawings build an elegant balance between the strength and serenity that come from nature. Her works invite us to reconnect with the beauty of our imperfections.
This holistic conception between art and nature is also reflected in the materials chosen by the artist. The canvases in raw shades and pastel tones gain new meanings when they are covered with colors, in order to build a dialogue between the support and the ink. The strokes of the works follow a natural, calm path, as if there were no hurry to cover the canvas.
